There is warmth to the city, in the late dinners that stretch on for hours, in the easy rhythm of vermouth and wine bars filled with locals and in the way grand boulevards that bring Paris to mind, and quiet corners exist so effortlessly side by side.
Devika's Travel Favourites
What I loved most about Madrid was that it really has something for everyone, yet is much more refined than most busy cities. There is a sense of old-world charm that goes hand in hand with the youthful spirit of the city.
The jewellery I wore from House of Quadri felt so right there.
There was something about the clean lines, the simplicity and that minimal yet intense sparkle that worked so well against Madrid’s backdrop. The pieces never overpowered an outfit yet added that final accessory that made my look feel so much more complete. I could also put them on in the morning and take them through till dinner (and beyond). In a city like Madrid where style is so much more subtle and elegant, these pieces made so much sense.
What I especially loved was how easy they were to travel with. They were incredibly lightweight, sitting almost like second skin, which meant I was always comfortable yet could see the sparkle from the corner of my eye.
Some of my favourite memories of Madrid were simple ones
cocktails and music at Gabo’s, a pre-dinner drink at Dani Brasserie, wandering through Retiro Park in the late afternoon and stumbling upon Vinoteca Vides to savour some of the best local wines.
I feel like Madrid is an often overlooked city because it reveals itself slowly.
